Emotions, Emotions, Emotions

So today was pretty eventual I went through so many emotions and moods today it's not even funny. This is kind of how my moods went throughout the day:

Woke up and was just kind of like whatever it's the morning, I have stuff to do today. Then the day went on:

And it was like oh my god information overload. Why in the world did I decide to study abroad in a country alone with no help and on a bigger campus. I can't do this I need to go home. Worst decision of my life.  But then:

we had a welcome presentation that sounded boring but ended up being incredibly awesome and reminded me why I wanted to come in the first place. And I just want to stay here forever.

Now why did I go through all these emotions?

Well first some background information I forgot to include in the previous post....

When I first got my apartment/house key and tried to open the door but it wouldn't budge.... had a couple of other people try it and they couldn't get it to open either. So I went and told the village manager we couldn't get into our apartment. He tries it and opens it right away. Just turns out its really hard to open and we're all just weak girls.

So the first day I arrived here I realized I didn't bring an adapter. I hadn't even though to look for one because for some reason I had a huge brain fart and just believed they would have the same electrical plugs as us in the United States (now considering I've studied abroad before you'd think I would know this is not always the case). So then I had to find my way to a store that sold adapters, which I did and it was successful.

These were the first two incidents of me being an all American idiot. Wonderful right? Well day I continued this streak.

First I didn't realize I had been sent a different schedule so I showed up an hour before I needed to. Then when it was about time to start to get our study abroad packets I overheard them saying you needed your passport. Well I didn't bring mine and so I asked if a copy of my passport was fine, and the lady I asked said yes. So I went to take it out along with an enrollment sheet I had printed out a while back. Guess what I don't have? My passport copy. I am ALWAYS prepared for everything and here I was without one of the most important things I could possibly ever have. So I had to race back to my village and race back to the concert hall (which took like 20 minutes) So I was that idiot American girl again.

Then I was freaking out because I thought I was going to be late or something, even though they told me I had plenty of time, and they were right. There was still a huge line for packets when I got back, and because my last name starts with an S I ended up getting a shorter line and got my packet before many of the others.

But what's even worse was that we didn't really need our passport....

So all american idiot points I have right now:

Not thinking of an adapter:                                                                               20
Not being strong enough to open a door:                                                           10
Forgetting important documents:                                                                      50
Freaking out when not needed:                                                                           5
Not needing passport: (but I was led to believe i needed it by staff)                      -25
Total:                                                                                                             60

So that was my morning.

Then it got really overwhelming, because we received so much information, and it's all so confusing, because we don't really have to register for classes until the 20th, and some of the modules/classes we pre-registered for may not even be running this semester so there's so much to figure out and we can go to whatever lectures we want to decide which classes to register, but we're not actually in the class so I don't really understand how that works, and its just so confusing! And buildings are confusing, and I don't remember have the stuff I was told so I was just like oh my god I can't do this.

But then we had a presentation that on the schedule said it was a welcoming presentation from the president, and so I didn't bring my camera but I wished I did, because it wasn't really that. He said welcome and all that, but then they had students playing music, and doing Irish dancing and there was a guy who did impressions of all the difference Irish accents, which let me tell you is ALOT.

And just like that my day turned around because it was fun and relaxing and I laughed and smiled and was reminded that I'm here to enjoy myself, and when things do become overwhelming there's a whole bunch of people here to help answer questions and get me through the first couple of week :)

Other Information

My address:
Elizabeth Stewart

Kilmurry Village
Castletroy, Limerick
Republic of Ireland

So now you can all send me stuff. Like money. No I'm just kidding... sort of... not really... seriously if you want to give me money then go for it but give it to my parents so they can put it in my bank accout :p no but if you really need or want to send me something there's my address just in case. This is more for my mom than any other reason. lol

This paragraph is for girls so Shaun skip over it. So if you are looking for good looking guys come to Ireland because they are everywhere. No joke. Everywhere, I mean everywhere you go there's plenty of good looking men with bright blue eyes and their nice and they have accents that just make you want to scream. So seriously come here, the guys are over here. Shaun don't get mad... you know I love you.

I met two Japanese students today, two Brazilian students, a Canadian, and a bunch of other people from the states. I wouldn't say I'm really friends with any of them, but it was still pretty cool to meet and talk with them. I also found some of my fellow North Central College students and had dinner them. So that was fun.

"Feck" is the polite way to say F*** over here.
"Taking the piss" (if i'm remembering it correctly... its something like that) is messing or playing a joke on someone.
"Whale of a time" means having a good time.
"He's sound" means he's a good guy.
Craic is pronounced like crack but means fun.

I also got my ID card:

Well hope you enjoyed the long update :)
